Gary Glausser has over 30 years of venture capital, private equity, financial management, investing, lending, and public accounting experience. Currently he serves as Chief Investment Officer at Innovation Works, one of the nation’s most active seed-stage investors. Prior to that, Gary managed the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s State Employees Retirement Systems $7 billion Alternative Investment portfolio, comprised of investments in top-tier global private equity and venture capital funds. Gary also served as a partner and CFO in two of Birchmere Ventures and the CEO of Venture Fund.
Gary began his career at Price Waterhouse, providing audit and consulting services to companies in a variety of industries. During this time, he was the creator, editor, and major contributing author of "Buying and Selling a Business," a Price Waterhouse guide for executives of emerging, growing, and middle-market companies. At Westinghouse Credit, Gary held various positions in lending, investing, and controller capacities. He was a deal maker, leading investments in excess of $200 million in a number of later-stage company financings. Later, he became VP/Controller of various investment portfolios totaling in excess of $5 billion.
Gary holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from John Carroll University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. He is past president of the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association, founder of the Three Rivers Venture Fair, and a current or past board member of the Association for Corporate Growth (Pittsburgh chapter), Financial Executives International (Pittsburgh chapter), CCAC Foundation, St. Clair Hospital, Sculptor Development and the Regional Development Funding Corporation.
